Thomas Henry Lippold, 88, of St. Marys died of a heart ailment Sunday, May 17, 1998, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Services were held May 21 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, of which he was a member, with burial at St. Marys Cemetery.

Mr. Lippold was born in Tripp County, S.D., and lived most of his life in St. Marys, where he owned Lippold Hardware and was also postmaster for 30 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Warren County Historical Society, and was a longtime sexton of St. Marys Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille; four daughters, Mary Kahler of St. Marys, Therese Crawford of Indianola, Margaret Spencer of Midvale, Utah, and Sharon Findley of Afton; two sons, Jerome of Norwalk and John of Huntington Beach Calif.; a sister Bernice Iosbaker of Mason City; 45 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Peterson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
