She was raised in the New Virginia area and graduated from New Virginia Consolidated School in 1924. After graduation, she attended Junior college in Creston and Northern Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls.
On September 28, 1928 she was united in marriage to Paul Francis Hilton of Bayard, Iowa. They lived in Indianola, Iowa for nine years before moving to New Virginia in 1937.
Lucille was a homemaker before going to work at the local phone company and later as a cook at the New Virginia School. She spent 27 years working for the New Virginia and Interstate 35 School Districts. She truly enjoyed her work and the opportunity to meet all the young kids that went through the lunch line everyday.
After her retirement she enjoyed reading, some travel and her family. Her grandchildren especially enjoyed all the stories that she told about her growing up in the early 1900's and were amazed at how different life was then. These stories will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Hilton, son Jerry Hilton, grandson Bradley Hilton, sister Inez Runyan, brother Raymond Nine and parents.
Lucille was always a positive person and brought laughter to many people, even in her last days. She will be remembered for her favorite sayings "thats life, that's the way it is suppose to be" and "Life's great if you don't weaken.
