Lucy E. Reed, daughter of James and Ida Hylton Boyles, was born August 24, 1905 at New Virginia, Iowa and departed this life on October 16, 1991 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 86 years.

Lucy was a lifelong resident of the New Virginia area and recieved her education in the New Virginia Schools.

She was united in marriage to W. Jennings Reed on August 25, 1922 at New Virginia, Iowa and 2 children were born to this union, Kenneth and Gail.

Lucy was a member of Women's Relief Corps, T.W.P. Club, New Virginia Garden Club, Charter member of U.M.W. at New Virginia and a past member of Eastern Star at New Virginia. She also belonged to the United Methodist Church at New Virginia, Iowa

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband W. Jennings Reed, brother Floyd Boyles and 2 sister Hettie Folger and Leota Boyles.

She is survived by son: Kenneth P. Reed and wife Helen of New Virginia, Iowa; Gail Reed and wife Reba of New Virginia, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; Randall Lee Reed of New Virginia, Iowa; Anna Marie Young of Indianola, Iowa; Melissa Lea Reed of New Virginia, Iowa; John Reed of Holy Lock, Scotland; and 6 great grandchildren along with other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at United Methodist Church on October 18, 1991 with Interment in the New Virginina Cemetery, Kale Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
