JOHN CLARE HENDRICKSON
J. Clare Hendrickson, official shorthand court reporter, lives at 1011 North B street, Indianola. He was born at Indianola Jan. 10, 1897, the son of John F. and Ella Hendrickson. He attended the Indianola public schools, Simpson College and Gregg Reporting school at Chicago.
May 5, 1927, Mr. Hendrickson married Opal Poison, daughter of Elmer C. and Hattie Poison. Mrs. Hendrickson was born at Milo April 7, 1901. From 1921 to 1924 Mr. Hendrickson was auditor of Warren County, and from 1927 to 1930 he served as treasurer of the county. He was reporter for the state commerce commission from 1932 to 1934. He has been official court reporter, fifth judicial district of Iowa, since 1935. He is a member of the Rotary club, and is chairman of the board of adjustment and review, Indianola Zoning commission. Fraternally Mr. Hendrickson is affiliated with the Masonic lodge. He is a Methodist, and his political ties are with the Republican Party.
Mr. Hendrickson is a great lover of sports. In Simpson college he won distinction in three sports - football, basketball and track. He was picked as an all-state quarterback in football, was for three years all-conference center in bas-ketball, for three years won individual honors in Iowa conference track meets and also individual honors in the Missouri Valley track meet. He has not, like many athletes, permitted himself to become stale since graduation. He limits his athletics now to golf, in which he has been high man in more tournaments than any other golfer in Indianola.[Social Security Death Index lists J.
