ROBERT ELMORE HALDEMAN
Robert E. Haldeman, Warren County auditor, was born at Indianola Feb. 1, 1916, son of Harry and Mae (Buchanan) Haldeman. He graduated from Indianola high school in 1934. On March 25, 1937, Mr. Haldeman married Arlene Mae Smith, daughter of Del-no E. and Laura Smith. Mrs. Haldemanwas born at Ackworth March 25, 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Haldeman have two children: Sue Ann, born April 27, 1941; Robert Steven, born Feb. 24, 1945.
Mr. Haldeman served as deputy clerk in the district court of Warren County from January, 1941, to November, 1943; as clerk of the district court from November, 1943, to June, 1944, Since Jan. 2, 1948, he has been auditor of Warren County.
Robert E. Haldeman spent 17 months overseas in World War II. He served on the USS Hansford APA-106, being in both the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He is a member of the American Legion and Izaak Walton league. He is chairman of the Republican central committee. of Warren County. He is interested and active in behalf of the Boy Scouts of America.
The Haldemans are members of the First Methodist church of Indianola. In their political convictions they are Republicans. Address: 605 East Ashland avenue, Indianola.
