EVANS, CHARLES S., farmer, Squaw Township, Sec. 5; P.O. Indianola; was born in Knox county, Ohio, April 16, 1832, where he was principally raised; he came to Warren county, Ill., in 1855, and in 1865 to the state of Michigan; in 1869 he settled in this county; he was married to Miss Elizabeth Conway, a native of Ohio; they have a family of six children: Emaranca, Sarah L., Mattie J., Robert P., Charles L., and Frank; two deceased, Ira W., and Wm. L.; he owns an improved farm of 80 acres.
