JOHN JOSEPH TAYLOR
John J. Taylor, sheriff of Warren County, was born on a farm near Motor Aug. 31, 1918. He is the son of Roy M. and Racheal Cathryn (Middleswart) Taylor. He graduated from the high school at Beech in 1936. He then farmed with his father until he entered military service in 1941. On June 14, 1942, Mr. Taylor married Eleanor Ruth Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Linzy Jo Allen. Mrs. Taylor was born at Ackworth July 30, 1921.
During World War II — June 14, 1941 — Mr. Taylor enlisted in the U. S. army air corps. He was honorably discharged from the service at Fort Sheridan, Ill., Feb. 2, 1946. He was elected sheriff of Warren County in 1950. Mr. Taylor is past president of Izaak Walton league, and is a member of the American Legion, Lions club and Iowa State Sheriffs association. Fraternally he is affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Masonic order, including the Des Moines Consistory. His religious affiliation is with the Christian church, and his political ties are with the Republican party. His favorite motto is "To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved."
