FRED C. STIFFLER
Fred C. Stiffler, stockman and farmer of Norwalk, was born June 26, 1875, the son of George Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Wright) Stiffler. His grandfather, Adam Stiffler, was the first mayor of Norwalk. His Grandfather Wright was state representative, serving the 17th session of the general assembly.
Mr. Stiffler's first wife, Nettie Ashworth Stiffler, passed away Oct. 26, 1905. Living children of this marriage are Mona Marie Onstot, born June 28, 1899, and Dorris Pilmer, born March 30, 1904.
Dec. 3, 1908, Mr. Stiffler married Maud Anderson, daughter of William and 011ie Anderson. Mrs. Stiffler was born at Liberty Center March 19, 1885. The children of this marriage are Elizabeth, born April 5, 1910, who married Troy Merrill; Frederick Jr., born July 3, 1916; Billy S., born July 12, 1918; George B., born Dec. 8, 1921. Three sons and three grandsons of Mr. Stiffler served in the armed forces during World War IL
Prior to 1936 Mr. Stiffler was a stock-buyer, farmer and dealer in real estate. From 1936 to 1942 he was a member of the Warren County board of supervisors. During the four years, 1949-52, he was state representative from Warren County. For 35 years he was a member of the school board at Norwalk. He is a member of the Methodist church. He is also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Izaak Walton league and the Norwalk Pioneer club. In politics he is a Republican.
