JOHN HAROLD SIVERS
John H. Sivers, manager of Collings Clothing, a men's clothing store in Indianola, was born Dec. 26, 1907, at Longmont, Colorado, the son of Warren L. and Grace Sivers. After graduation from high school, he attended a radio electric school.
Oct. 7, 1944, Mr. Sivers married Viola Edna Rhule, daughter of Scott and Mildred Rhule. Mrs. Sivers was born July 4, 1917, in Odebolt, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Sivers are parents of two children: Diana Aurel, born May 29, 1946, and Janel Erna, born June 20, 1949.
Mr. Sivers served as a staff sergeant and maintenance chief in the air force in World War II. Much of his service was on Ascension island in mid-Atlantic. He is a member of the Masonic lodge, of which he was master in 1937; American Legion; chamber of commerce, which he served as president in 1950; Country club, Izaak Walton league; and Lions club. Mr. Sivers came to Indianola in 1930 to assist his uncle, Ralph Collings, in the management of his clothing store, a store with a record of 50 years in business. When Mr. Collings died in 1938, Mr. Sivers took over the management. He left his business for two years in the hands of P. K. McKee while he went into the service of his country. Upon his discharge he again took over the management of his business.
The Sivers belong to the First Methodist Church of Indianola. Their political ties are with the Republican Party. They live at 507 West Boston, Indianola.
