JOHN WESLEY PARSONS
John Parsons, salesman, who lives at 104 West Euclid, Indianola, was born on a farm in Richland Township June 27, 1908. The farm on which he was born has been in the Parsons name since 1850. He is the son of Preston M. and Frena (Laverty) Parsons. He is the great-greatgrandson of John M. Laverty, who made the original town survey of Indianola. After attending the public schools of Hartford, Mr. Parsons continued his studies at Iowa State college at Ames. He married Helen A. Beattie, who became the mother of Preston Max Parsons. Helen A. Beattie Parsons was born at Adelphi, Iowa, May 10, 1910, and passed away Jan. 29, 1938.
Aug. 29, 1942, Mr. Parsons married Ruth Aileen Greenwalt, daughter of A. L. and Fern (Waechter) Greenwalt. Mrs. Parsons was born at Des Moines Sept. 26, 1913. She attended the public schools of Indianola, and graduated from Simpson college in 1935. She has served as deputy county auditor of Warren County. Mr. and Mrs. Parsons have three children: Preston Max, born Jan. 28, 1938; David Rex, born March 17, 1944; Pamela Fern, born Dec. 6, 1946.
During World War II Mr. Parsons served with the Red Cross in the Pacific ocean area from February, 1945, to February, 1946. Mr. Parsons is interested in various civic and youth programs. He is assistant cubmaster of Cub Pack 122, Indianola. At the All-Iowa Soil Conservation Field day on the Bellman farm he served as chairman of the committee on concessions. He is a Republican, a Methodist, and is a member of the Masonic lodge and the Rotary club.
