EVERETT EDGAR OVERTON
Everett E. Overton, funeral director at Indianola, was born at Centerville June 10, 1916, the son of Lewis and Leona Overton. He graduated from Indianola high school in 1933, Simpson College in 1938 and the College of Mortuary Science in 1936.
March 29, 1941, he married Grace Livingston Annear, daughter of John B. and Della B. Annear. Mrs. Overton was born in Carroll county May 7, 1919. The Over-tons have three children: John Lewis,born Aug. 7, 1942; Jo Ann and Jean Ann, twins, born April 16, 1948.
Fraternally Mr. Overton is affiliated with the Masonic lodge, Odd Fellows and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Mrs. Overton belongs to the Eastern Star. Mr. Overton is a member of Rotary and Indianola Chamber of Commerce. His political affiliation is with the Republican party. The Overtons belong to the First Presbyterian church of Indianola. Their home is at 501 West Ashland, Indianola.
The Overton Memorial home in Indianola is the lineal successor of Proudfoot & Overton, and further back of Ritchie Brothers, making it a continuous business in Indianola for more than 80 years.
