LESLIE J. NICKLE
Born near Manning in Crawford County Sept. 20, 1881, Leslie J. Nickle is the son of George S. and Sarah J. Nickle. Dec. 25, 1902, he married Ida Neota Hunter, daughter of William Riley and Harriet Jane Hunter. Mrs. Nickle was born at Afton July 10, 1881. The L. J. Nickles have one daughter, Velma Irene, who was born Jan. 14, 1909.
Mr. Nickle is one of the best known men in Warren County. From Oct. 1, 1928, to Dec. 31, 1944, he was county agricultural agent for Warren County. Prior to this time he engaged in farming and livestock raising for 23 years, cooperative marketing for two years, selling machinery for two years, and editing a newspaper for one year. In recent years he has engaged in professional farm management.
He is a member of the Methodist church and names his political party as Republican. He belongs to the Rotary club, Farm Bureau, Indianola Quarter Century club, Indianola Planning board and Iowa Association of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He has served as president of Rotary, Quarter Century and Indianola Council of Civic agencies; and as secretary of the Warren County Soil Conservation association. Mrs. Nickle is an active member of a number of social and church organizations.
In 1940 Mr. Nickle was awarded a "Certificate of Distinguished Service" for long and efficient service to the agricultural industry. In 1950 he was given a plaque for "Public Service Performed as a Pioneer in Soil Conservation" by the Warren County Soil Conservation district. Address: 709 West Second avenue, Indianola.
