GEORGE HENDRICKS NICHOLLS
George H. Nicholls, who devoted his entire life to farming, now lives at 901 North B street, Indianola. He was born in Palmyra township, Warren County, Jan. 31, 1884, the son of Cyrus and Belle Nicholls. His grandfather, G. H. Nicholls, a native of West Virginia, came to Warren County in 1853. George H. Nicholls attended the public schools and took a business course at Simpson College.
Feb. 15, 1911, Mr. Nicholls married Martha Esther Keeney, daughter of Frank and Mattie Keeney. Mrs. Nicholls, a twin sister of Mary Easter Morris, was born at Indianola April 10, 1887. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholls are Marthabelle, born Sept. 29, 1914, and Marion Clark, born Nov. 1, 1918.
Mr. Nicholls purchased the home place in December, 1910, and he and his family resided on it until the fall of 1927, when he bought the lot and built the house at 901 North B street in Indianola, where he still resides. Mrs. Nicholls passed away Sept. 21, 1945.
March 25, 1931, Mr. Nicholls bought the Elm Grove farm, located nine miles northeast of Indianola, on which his son Marion and his family now live. Martha-belle, who married Ray McLearnon, lives at Vallejo, Calif. In politics Mr. Nicholls supports the Democratic Party.
