CHARLES DUNNING McCOY
Charles D. McCoy, hardware merchant at Indianola, was born in Indianola Nov. 26, 1905, the son of Joe and Laura (Dunning) McCoy. He began his formal education in the public schools of Indianola, after which he attended Simpson College where he graduated in 1928 with the degree of bachelor of science.
Aug. 20, 1927, he married Florence Ida Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Martin. Mrs. McCoy was born at Woodburn Aug. 25, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. McCoy have three daughters: JoAnn (Kent), born June 27, 1928; Paroda Jane (Peterson), born July 4, 1931; Judith Susan, born May 17, 1937.
From 1930 to 1945 Mr. McCoy was associated with the Iowa-Des Moines National bank. In 1945 he helped to organize, and became executive vice-president of the Warren County Bank and Trust company of Indianola. In January, 1949, Mr. McCoy, in partnership with R. H. McCoy, purchased the McCoy Hardware company of Indianola. This business has been in the McCoy family in Indianola approximately 50 years. Mr. McCoy's father was a long time member of the firm. Mr. McCoy is a member of the Masonic lodge and the Lions club. He is a trustee of Simpson college. He is a member of the Methodist church, and in his political affiliation he is a Republican. The McCoys live at 310 West Iowa avenue, Indianola.
