They wereparents of two children: Alice and Effie, who died Sept. 6, 1927, leaving two little girls, born to her marriage to Thomas C. Wilkins. Following the death of Mrs. Landes, mother of Alice Landes, the family moved to the grandparents' home. Mr. Landes was a jeweler in Lacona from 1892 until he retired to his farm in 1914 where he lived until his death Dec. 13, 1942. In 1892 Mr. Landes married Martha Tabitha Rodgers and five children were born to this marriage: Gussie May, Mary Isabelle, Robert Samuel Jr., Helen Olive and Margaret.
