ARTHUR JAMES KINDRED
Arthur J. Kindred, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Indianola, was born at Clinton April 15, 1907, the son of Harry C. and Mary M. (Jones) Kindred. The Rev. Mr. Kindred attended Lyons high school in Clinton, Cornell College at Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and Garrett Biblical Institute at Evanston, Illinois. In 1947 Cornell College conferred upon him the degree of doctor of divinity.
Dec. 27, 1931, Dr. Kindred married Carol Elizabeth Hunt, daughter of E. G. and Alice (Kellogg) Hunt. Mrs. Kindred was born at Traer Oct. 8, 1908. Dr. and Mrs. Kindred have three sons: Jerry, born May 29, 1934; Michael, born June 25, 1939; Stephen, born May 8, 1944.
Dr. Kindred came to Indianola directly from the pastorate of the First Methodist Church of Marshalltown, Iowa. Prior to that time he had been pastor of Methodist churches at Mechanicsville, Earlville, Decorah, Fayette and Waverly.
