HERMAN JOHN KERN
Herman J. Kern, farmer of Norwalk, was born at Norwalk Dec. 23, 1893. His parents are Charles Benoni and Mary Frances (Spring) Kern. He attended Simpson college for two years.
July 19, 1917, he married Elsie May Martin, daughter of Robert John and Louisa Ellen (Bair) Martin. Mrs. Kern was born March 10, 1895, at Hancock, Iowa. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Kern are: John Martin, born May 3, 1918; Byron Charles, born May 4, 1920; Phyllis Patricia, born June 19, 1924; Richard Popham, born Aug. 15, 1926.
The Kerns worship in the faith of the Methodist Church. Their political ties are with the Republican Party. Fraternally Mr. Kern is affiliated with the .Ancient Free and Accepted Masons.
