BERYL E. HOYT
Beryl E. Hoyt, librarian at Simpson College, was born at Scranton, Iowa, May 9, 1915, the daughter of Delmer L. and Clara Jane (Allen) Hoyt. Miss Hoyt attended Simpson College, where she graduated with the degree of bachelor of arts in 1936. She received the degree of bachelor of science in library science from the University of Illinois library school, and the degree of master of arts from Northwestern University.
Miss Hoyt has been librarian of Simpson College since 1944 and is at the present time serving as American Library association councilor for the Iowa Library association. She is editor of two volumes of Lyrics From the Three River Land. The first volume appeared in 1946 and the second volume was published in 1952. She is a contributor of poetry to books and magazines.
Miss Hoyt belongs to the Iowa Library association, the American Library Association, the Iowa Poetry association, the American Poetry league, the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Kappa Phi, the Jessie Welborn Smith Poetry club, Simpson Guild, Sigma Tau Delta and Epsilon Sigma. Her religious affiliation is with the Methodist church. Her home is at 405 West Ashland avenue, Indianola.
