ALMO HESS
Almo Hess, farmer of Route No. 1, Indianola, was born in Liberty Township Sept. 17, 1878. His parents are William W. and Nancy Elizabeth (Young) Hess. Nov. 7, 1908, Almo Hess married Clara Angeline Johnson, daughter of Jesse and Sarah A. Johnson. Mrs. Hess was born Nov. 25, 1878, in Liberty township. Mr. and Mrs. Hess have seven children: Thelma L. (Mrs. Carl Parsons), born March 8, 1910; Glenn C., born Feb. 2, 1911; C. Dwight, born Feb. 2, 1912; Laura E. (Mrs. Horace G. Conger), born July 26, 1914; Ethel L. (Mrs. Frank Ayers), born Oct. 3, 1916; Rolland E., born March 3, 1918; Marjorie L., born Sept. 18, 1920. Lt. Col. Glen C. Hess served in the United States army during World War II. He is married to Helen F. Fryer. C. Dwight Hess married Tressa Grossnickle, and Rolland E. Hess married Virginia Howard.
Mrs. Almo Hess is a granddaughter of Asa Mosher, an early and well-known settler of Liberty township. Mr. Hess has belonged to the Farm Bureau for 25 years. The Hess political affiliation is with the Republican party, and they belong to the Christian Union Church.
