KEITH CURRY HEMPHILL
Keith C. Hemphill, who owns and operates a chick hatchery and poultry farm at Creston, Iowa, was born at Summerset March 3, 1907, the son of James F. and Jennie (Fears) Hemphill. His grandfather, S. C. Hemphill, who came to Iowa in 1855, was born in Montgomery County, Ind., and his grandmother, Margaret (Hill) Hemphill, was born in Virginia.
Keith C. Hemphill was graduated from Indianola high school in 1926 and from Simpson College in 1930. June 1, 1930, he married Eva Fern Jenks, who was born at Lake City, Iowa, May 15, 1904, the daughter of Edwin R. Jenks and Mrs. Effie Crawford. James Edwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith C. Hemphill, was born Nov. 25, 1932.
Mr. Hemphill started in business at Creston in 1938. Prior to this time he had worked for the Jewel Tea company and the Register and Tribune. Mr. Hemphill is a member of the Rotary club, chamber of commerce, and is past president of the Iowa Poultry Improvement association. He has served two terms as member of the city council in Creston. The Hemphills are members of the Christian church at Creston. Their political ties are with the Republican party. Address: 900 South Oak, Creston, Iowa.
