JOSIAH BROOKS HECKERT
J. Brooks Heckert, professor of accounting Ohio State university and corporation executive, was born in Tescott, Kansas, Jan. 22, 1893, the son of Uriah E. and Nancy Roy Heckert. Dr. Heckert received the degree of bachelor of science from Kansas Wesleyan University, the degree of master of arts from University of Chicago and the degree of certified public accountant from the state of Ohio.
June 5, 1918, he married Marie Philips Hood, daughter of Greame and Agnes Hood. Mrs. Heckert was born at Marble City, Arkansas, July 12, 1893. During World War I Dr. Heckert served as first lieutenant of infantry in the American Expeditionary force. From 1920 to 1925 he was head of the school of business administration at Simpson college, Indianola, Iowa. Since 1925 he has been at Ohio State University where he is professor of accounting. Prof. Heckert holds honorary degrees of doctor of commerce and doctor of laws. He is the author and coauthor of seven widely used books on business management and accounting.
Dr. Heckert is at this time president of the National Association of Cost Accountants, member of the American Institute of Accountants, and Beta Gamma Sigma. His religious affiliation is with the Baptist Church. His political ties are with the Republican Party. Address: 1730 Arlington avenue, Columbus, Ohio.
