GEORGE GILBERT FRIDLEY
Gilbert Fridley, farmer of Liberty Township, was born at Milo Nov. 3, 1910. He is the son of Thomas E. and Esta L. (Schroeder) Fridley. The Fridleys were among the early settlers of L i b e r t y township. On Jan. 4, 1939, Mr. Fridley married Rosa Jane Martin, daughter of John L. and Cora Mae Martin. Mrs. Fridley was born at Hamilton, Iowa, Jan. 24, 1906. The Fridleys have three children: Rose Marie, born Nov. 6, 1939; Esta Mae, born Feb. 7, 1942; John Thomas, born Dec. 3, 1944.
Mr. Fridley has served as treasurer, secretary, vice-president and director of the Warren County Farm Bureau. For four years he was chairman of the commissioners of the Warren County Soil Conservation District, and for three years he was vice-chairman of the county P.M.A. committee. He is a member of the board of education of the Liberty Center Consolidated school and is now serving his fourth year as president of the board. In 1947 Mr. Fridley received an award from the agricultural department of the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce for practicing soil conservation. The Fridleys worship in the faith of the Methodist Church. Their political ties are with the Republican Party.
