GENE W. CARTER
The Rev. Gene W. Carter, a minister of the Methodist Church, was born at Perry, Iowa, Jan. 28, 1916, the son of Glenn C. and Mabel E. (Daniels) Carter. The Rev. Mr. Carter graduated from Simpson college in 1943 with the degree of bachelor of arts. In 1946 he received the degree of bachelor of divinity from Garrett Biblical institue and the degree of master of arts from Northwestern university.
July 30, 1942, the Rev. Mr. Carter married Mozelle M.Kating. daughter of Milo and Josephine Kating. Mrs. Carter was born at Galesburg, Ill., Oct. 1, 1922. Constance Susan, daughter of the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Carter, was born April 5, 1949. Since 1946 the Rev. Mr. Carter has been director of the Warren County Group ministry and instructor in sociology at Simpson college. He is past president of the Iowa Christian Rural fellowship. He is a member of the general committee of the National Methodist Town and Country conference. He is also a member of the American Sociological society, Rural Sociological society, Christian Rural fellowship, Methodist Rural fellowship, Pi Gamma Mu, Warren County Farm Bureau and the Warren County Youth Center board.
In 1952 the Rev. Mr. Carter resigned from Simpson to accept a scholarship in the University of Wisconsin. Early in 1953 he was elected associate professor of town and country work at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, Calif., an interdenominational theological seminary. As this is written the Rev. Mr. Carter is completing his work in the University of Wisconsin and will take up his duties at Berkeley Sept. 1, 1953.
