WILLIAM HOWARD BOYD
Born in a log cabin in Clayton county, ty, Iowa, Aug. 22, 1868, William Howard Boyd is the son of James S. and Anna
Juvene (Noble) Boyd. He came to Warren County with his parents in 1872. He attended the public school and graduated from the Garden Grove Normal school. After teaching in the public schools of Warren and adjoining counties for 10 years, Mr. Boyd in 1900 turned to farming.
March 21, 1900, Mr. Boyd married Mabel Alice Nutting, daughter of Frank O. and Margaret Jane (Johnston) Nutting. Mrs. Boyd was born in Otter township, Warren County, Oct. 19, 1875. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd lived on the farm in Greenfield township until 1918. During this time Mr. Boyd served as township assessor for 16 years, and also as president and treasurer of the local school board. In 1918 he was solicited to run for the office of treasurer of Warren County and was elected to that office,entering upon his new duties on Jan. 1, 1919. He served two terms as treasurer, and remained in the office as helper to his successor for two years.
Mr. Boyd states that he has been a Republican all his life. His religious affiliation is with the United Presbyterian church which he has served as ruling elder for 50 years. Mr. Boyd is a stockholder in the Warren County Fair association and has served the organization as treasurer and as a member of the board of directors. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd live at 803 West Third avenue, Indianola.
