LEWIS FRANKLIN BLAKE
Lewis Blake, owner of the Blake Shoe store at Indianola, was born at Palmyra April 5, 1912, the son of V. G. and Naomi Blake. He attended the public schools, and graduated from Indianola high school.
Sept. 4, 1933, Lewis Blake married Dixie Marie Bowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bowles, Mrs. Blake was born at Agency, Iowa, Match 23, 1910. Mr. and Mrs. Blake have two sons: Jack Bryan, born July 24, 1947; Joe Franklin, born Sept. 23, 1949.
During World War II Mr. Blake served '27 months in the United States army, and of this period, 22 months were served in the South Pacific theater of the war. Following the war - on April 1, 1946 -he purchased the shoe store he now owns from H. A. Trimble.
Fraternally Mr. Blake is affiliated with the Masonic lodge. He is a member of the Lions club, the American Legion, the Izaak Walton league, and the chamber of commerce. His religious affiliation is with the Methodist Church. In politics he is a Republican. Mr. and Mrs. Blake live at 208 West Kentucky, Indianola.
