LESTER HARRISON BARTHOLOMEW
Lester Harrison Bartholomew, farmer, living near Carlisle, was born at Palmyra June 23, 1892. He is the son of Ezra and Ida May (Willets) Bartholomew. His grandfather, George M. Bartholomew, a native of Indiana, came to Warren County in 1852 and became the pioneer merchant of Palmyra.
Lester H. Bartholomew and Blanche Lucille Ellis were married May 21, 1918, and became the parents of three sons: James Lester, born in 1920; Robert Irvin, born in 1921; Edwin Ellis, born in 1923. Mrs. Bartholomew, born Nov. 7, 1897, is a daughter of James and Margaret Dora (Pilmer) Ellis of Norwalk. She is a granddaughter of Robert Pilmer, an early settler and businessman of Warren County.
Mr. Bartholomew has served as a member of the board of education at Carlisle, as director of the Warren County Farm Bureau, and as director of the Warren County fair. He has also been township trustee for some 14 years and a 4-H club leader for eight years. He is an elder of the Middle River Friends church and a director of the Farmers Mutual Insurance company. Mrs. Bartholomew is active in women's work of the Farm Bureau, and is at the present time serving as township chairman. She has served as president of the Carlisle Parent-Teacher association, president of the Ladies aid of her church, and as leader in 4-H club work and in various community activities. The Bartholomews are members of the Middle River Friends church and in politics they give their support to the Republican Party. At the general election in 1952 Mr. Bartholomew was elected to a three-year term as supervisor of Warren County, beginning his duties Jan. 1, 1953.
