The following men and women have been selected as typical of the outstanding recognition achieved by alumni of Simpson College in representative fields of endeavor:

AVIATION - Harry G. Smith (December 8, 1890 - April 1938)
Harry G. Smith, recognized as one of the outstanding men in American Air Service; former air mail pilot; recently chosen to establish commercial air lines in China; one of two pilots chosen as the official welcoming committee for Lindbergh on his return from Europe holder of air mail records; at one time inspector of all government planes; former instructor in flying at Kelly Field, San Antonio, Texas; expert in aeronautic engineering and aerial photography; graduate of Simpson in the class of 1917.
