The following men and women have been selected as typical of the outstanding recognition achieved by alumni of Simpson College in representative fields of endeavor:

ART – Stuart M. Shaw (April 3, 1899 - February 1985)
Stuart Maclaren Shaw, architect, first of two Simpson graduates to be awarded the Prix De Rome for study at the American Academy in Rome, which is awarded students of the Columbia University School of Architecture; previously awarded the Perkins and Boring Fellowship for travel in Europe; he spent a period in Europe travelling and studying the national architecture of various European countries; now employed in architectural designing in New York City; member of the class of 1921.
