The following men and women have been selected as typical of the outstanding recognition achieved by alumni of Simpson College in representative fields of endeavor:

BUSINESS - Lee A. Phillips (August 24, 1871 - January 7, 1938)
Lee Allen Phillips, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pacific Finance Corporation; manager and treasurer of the Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Company; after leaving Simpson went to California and became associated in promotion of real estate and insurance; became connected with the Conservation Life of California, later consolidated with the Pacific Mutual; recognized as one of the chief financiers of California and the Pacific Coast; member of class of 1892.
