[In Sep 1885, residents in Warren County were not happy with the Republican controlled county officials and formed a People’s County Convention to nominate county officials on a People’s County ticket. The following “biographical” information was written for those candidates]
George Epps, the nominee for Auditor, has lived in the county for 30 years, his parents moving here when he was little more than a babe, and knows all about the hardships and trials and privations of pioneer life and poverty. Of genial disposition, fine talent and untiring industry, he has secured a liberal education, made himself a successful teacher and is a highly respected and esteemed citizen. Palmyra township has no more popular man than George Epps, and Warren county has no citizen better qualified to become County Auditor. He is matched against O. C. Brown, by all odds the strongest man on the Republican ticket and Mr. Brown will find in Mr. Epps foeman worthy of his steel.
