In Response To: Ferguson's (vjferguson)

The following text is from the obituary of Ida Ferguson taken from the "Ottumwa Courier" dated January 29, 1944.

[Headline] 77-Year Resident of Ottumwa is Dead

"Mrs. Ida Parnell Ferguson, 82, a resident of Ottumwa for the past 77 years, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ottumwa hospital. She was the wife of the late George Ferguson who died six years ago.

Mrs. Ferguson was born November 22, 1861 in Pennsylvania, the daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Ann Parnell. When she was 5 years old she came to Ottumwa with her parents.

She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Fay Schlaf, Galesburg, Ill.; Mrs. Emma Terrell, Winterset; Mrs Ray Hobbs, Ottumwa; Jesse Ferguson and Jerry Ferguson, all of Ottumwa. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Frank Hogan of Lincoln, Neb, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. E. E. Byrd of the East End Presbyterian church."

I know the last paragraph makes little sense but that's how it's written.

The following are buried in Ottumwa Cemetery besides George and Ida:

Jeremiah Parnell; b. 21 Apr 1821; d. 31 Aug 1910
Mary Ann Parnell; b. 1 Nov 1832; d. 27 Mar 1908
Jesse Gilbert Ferguson; b. 21 Sep 1881; d. 4 Feb 1974
Alma Ferguson; dau of George and Ida, aged 2y 29d; d. 30 Mar 1892
Roy Ferguson; b. 22 Jul 1896; d. 14 May 1957
Robert Jerry Ferguson; b. 29 Aug 1890; d. 12 Aug 1971
Emma Terrell; b. 1 Jan 1895; d. 14 Sep 1958. She was the wife of Hubert Terrell (b. 18 Feb 1893; d. 17 Nov 1968)

Finally, I have photo copies of the obituaries that I have posted if you want them.

Hope some of this helps.
