The Williams Cemetery has not existed as a true cemetery in over 30 years. At the time the current Wapello County History book was written in about 1986, there were only 2 stones still standing there. As the history book then stated--

"The [Williams] cemetery us located by the Rock Island Railroad. The Curtis King marker and one other is located on the railroad side of the fence and the rest are lying on the ground in the pasture [on the other side of the fence]."

With all that has gone on in that area, I am not suprised that there is little remaining. As I indicated in a previous post, it is with only some luck that the Curtis King marker was saved when the new four-lane highway was built. Most people - even those who live in the area - did not know that there was a cemetery there.
