From the "Ottumwa Courier" dated Thursday 27 Nov 1958.
"Henry M. Gushard, 81, of 929 East Main Street, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. He had been ill for several months.
He was the son of Samuel and Hannah Gushard and was born December 26, 1879 at Traer, Iowa. He had lived in Ottumwa for 20 years and was a member of the Salvation Army and the Golden Agers club of the Salvation Army.
He was married to Charlottie Burnell, September 17, 1939 in Waterloo.
Surviving are his wife; three stepsons, John, William and Wesley Jaster, all of Ottumwa; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Alta Bergmeier and Mrs. Elsie Mitchell both of Waterloo; 23 step-granchildren; 56 step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Noss and Mrs. Lydia Butler both of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson fneral chapel. Sr. Maj. Walter E. Lee of the Salvation Army will be in charge. Burial will be in the Shaul Cemetery."
Just a side note that both William Jaster and Wesley Jaster are still listed in the current Ottumwa phone directory.
