The best place to get a death certificate, marriage certificate or birth certificate in Iowa is to contact the County Recorder's Office of the county and provide the information that they would need to look it up.

Most Iowa counties, including Wapello, offer the alternatives of getting either a certified or non-certified certificate. Non-certified certificates will generally run from $1 to $5, depending on the county and certified from $10 to $15. I don't know what the cost is in Wapello.

You also need to be aware that these events were not required to be recorded until 1880. Certificates for events prior to 1880 are hit and miss.
