JOHNSTON FAMILY OF WAPELLO COUNTY IOWA

JOHNSTON, JOHNSON, NOSLER, SURBAUGH

I am interested in Dr. Samuel P. Johnston (also on census records spelled as Johnson in 1880) and particularly in identifying his wife, Sophie or Sophia C..

I suspect a relationship to George W. Surbaugh who married Irena Nosler.

There is correspondence from Florence Surbaugh, daughter of George W. Surbaugh, speaking of "Uncle Doc" Johnston, and there was enough additional information given about the family that I dentified "Uncle Doc" as Samuel P. Johnston.

I am wondering if Sophie C., his wife, might have been a sister of George W. Surbaugh, but I can't find her identified anywhere. There is some suggestion in family records that the mother of George W. Surbaugh might have been "Suzanna Elizabeth Shober". George W. Surbaugh named a son John Shober Surbaugh. But I have not been able to confirm any of this.
