CARTER HARMAN JARVISCARTER HARMAN JARVIS

Are there any newspapers that covered Wapello Co. in the 1850s? It is claimed that John Henry Carter died there in 1856, but I have seen no verification. Anyone have a death registration or obit? His whole family seems to disappear after the 1856 state census, except for his two youngest children: Rachel E. Carter married Wm. A. Harman and she and younger brother (Francis M.) show up with Harman family in 1870 census. Yellow Fever was rampant in the mid-1850s, and was followed with a severe influenza epidemic, so it is possible that much of the family was wiped out, but I have seen nothing to suggest this.
Others in 1856 census were children Susan(nah), James W. and Charles. If anyone knows James W's middle name it would help me. Also, Rachel's (wife) 70 year old father Henry Jarvis is living with them.

Thanks!

Nick
