Carrie Jane Wright Turpin

Carrie Jane Wright Turpin, daughter of Frank and Ella Curry Wright, was born November 9, 1883, in Macon County, Missouri, and died September 25, 1972, at the Ottumwa Hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, following a lengthy illness at the age of 88 years, ten months and 16 days.

She was united in marriage to George Ira Turpin in 1904 at Bloomfield, Iowa. To this union was born two children, a son and a daughter.

She was a member of the Baptist Church and had been living in Ottumwa, Iowa, for the past 20 years.

Surviving is her son Clell William Turpin of Ottumwa, Iowa, and her daughter, Gladys Lavelle Gordy of Berthoud, Colorado, three grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, September 28, 1972, at the Wagler Funeral Home, Bloomfield, Iowa, by Rev. Merrill C. Yoakam. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery Bloomfield, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Alvin Irvin, J.B. Ranes, Donnie Sommers, Harold Tolander, Paul Bales and Ed Ellis.
