ALEX DAVIS
Alex Davis, 53, 626 ˝ Church St., died Friday at 10:05 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient five days.

The son of James and Lillie Ellen Jordan Davis, he was born March 29, 1915, in Ottumwa, where he lived all of his life. He was a former John Morrell & Co. employe.

He was a World War II veteran, having enlisted July 11, 1941. He received his discharge from the infantry on Oct. 19, 1945 at Camp Hood, Tex.

He was a member of O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 775, and was a past commander of Amvets.

Survivors include his widow, Loretta; his mother Lillie Ellen Morrow of Ottumwa; three sons, David Davis of West Union, Richard Davis of Ottumwa, and Robert Davis of Cedar Rapids; and three daughters, Susie Davis of Cedar Rapids, Marge in California, and Mrs. Lidie Kopp of Ottumwa.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Simonton of Davis Street Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with the local American Legion in charge of military rites.

Pallbearers will be Leo Murray, William O’Laughlin, William Wilt, Richard Hobbs, Lonnie Haines and Don Allen.
