Gretchen M. Lambirth, 31, died at 9 a.m. today at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Lambirth of 713 Wabash avenue. She had been ill about five months. She was born August 18, 1913, at Chariton, the daughter of W.E. and Bessie Lambirth and attended the Chariton public schools and was graduated from the Chariton high school. She was employed at the F.W. Woolworth Co. at Chariton from 1934 to 1936. She then served as cashier in the Katz Drug Co. at Des Moines from 1937 to June 1944 when she became ill. She is survived by her parents, four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Hall of Ottumwa, Mrs. Marlene Werts of Newton and Winifred and Barbara Lambirth of Ottumwa, and four brothers, Ralph of Chariton, Private First Class Earl Lambirth in the south Pacific, Corporal Woodrow Lambirth and Private First Class Kenneth Lambirth, also in the Pacific area. The body was removed to the Carroll Reece funeral home and will be taken to the Lambirth home at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Funeral services for Gretchen M. Lambirth who died Tuesday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Lambirth of 713 Wabash avenue will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Christian church at Chariton, in charge of the Rev. W.A. Purdy of West Liberty. The body will be removed from the Carroll Reece funeral home to the residence at 5 p.m. today, and from the residence to Chariton at 10 a.m. Friday.
