Henry D. Judd, 73, a Center township justice of the peace for four different terms and a former local grocer, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. His residence was in Linby, where he had moved 18 months ago after making his home in Ottumwa for the past 45 years. He was the son of David and Sara Rosetta Judd and was born October 10, 1870 in Des Moines county, Iowa. Elected Center township justice four times, he completed his tenure of office in 1942. He was a member of Security Benefit association No. 637. Surviving are two sons, Harold W. Judd and John J. Judd, both of Ottumwa; a granddaughter Clenys Uldine Judd, Ottumwa; one brother, A.E. Judd of Chehalis, Washington, and four sisters, Mrs. Cora Lyle, Omaha; Mrs. Lille Binford, Pacific Junction, Iowa; Mrs. Laura Cohagen Polk, Nebraska and Mrs. Mary Virden Sinila, Colorado. Mr. Judd was preceded in death by his wife, Addie, May 17, 1933; one daughter Lela Iris, and one son who died in infancy. A sister Mrs. Clara Blake and a brother, Clarence Judd also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. R.C. Keagy, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church. Burial will be made in Ottumwa cemetery.
