Oscar W. Prunty, 66, resident of Farson for the past 40 years, died at 4:10 a.m. today at the St. Joseph hospital here. The son of Robert C. and Mary Elizabeth Prunty, he was born at Carthage, Illinois, February 12, 1878. He was a member of the Methodist church at Farson and I.O.O.F. lodge, No. 333, at Martinsburg. Survivors include three brothers, Everette Prunty, Fairfield, Arthur Prunty, Cedar Rapids and Robert Prunty, Omaha, Nebraska: a sister, Ethel E. Prunty, Ottumwa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parent, a sister, Lula Mae Thompson, a brother, Vernon Lee Prunty.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Baptist church in Farson, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Faulkner of the Farson Baptist church. Burial will be in Competine cemetery at Farson. The body will remain at the Johnson funeral chapel until 9 a.m. Monday and will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. to lie in state until time for services.
