Mrs. Elizabeth Greeley, 75, wife of William Greeley, 329 South Moore Street, died at the St. Joseph hospital at 8 p.m. Monday. She was born at Edina, Missouri, October 27, 1868, and had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 32 years. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren, was a Gold Star Mother and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, one son, James M. Greeley, Ottumwa, five daughters, Mrs. C.J. Cook, Mrs. Frank Ashley and Mrs. Marie Ludwick, all of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. Lawrence Buchanan and Mrs. Dewey Handelman both of Ottumwa. Five grandchildren, on great grandson, a brother, W.E. Short of Shenandoah, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Eastman of Joy, Illinois, also survive. She was preceded in death by three sons and one daughter. The body will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the residence this evening to await further arrangements.
Short funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Greeley, wife of William Greeley, 329 South Moore street, who died at the ST. Joseph’s hospital here at 8 p.m. Monday will be held Saturday at the home at 2 p.m. and a 2:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren. Survivors will be in charge of the Rev. Charles Albin and burial will be made in Shaul cemetery.
