Mrs. Martha A. Gayer, 58, wife of John Gayer, died at her home 134 Palmetto street, at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The daughter of Sylvester H. and Sarah E. Marshall, she was born in Cass County October 27, 1885, but has been a resident of this vicinity for the past 44 years. Besides her husband, she is survived as son, Private First Class, William E. Gayer, stationed in the Aleutian Islands; three daughters, Mrs. Della Rollson and Mrs. Helen Terrell, both of Ottumwa and Mrs. Mabel Van Ness, Ottumwa route 2; nine grandchildren; a brother, Alonzo Marshall of Perry, and a sister. Mrs. Mary Dickerson, Des Moines. She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter. The body was taken to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha A. Gayer, wife of John Gayer, who died at her home 134 Palmetto avenue, at 8 p.m. Wednesday will be held at the Johnson funeral chapel at 4 p.m. Saturday. A.O. Smith will be in charge of the services and burial will be made in Kitterman cemetery.
