Fred H. Moyer, 70, retired John Morrell & Co. stationary engineer, died at 1:15 a.m. today at Ottumwa hospital. He home is at 413 Minnesota street. The son of George and Mary Moyer, he was born in Wapello county March 12, 1865, and lived his entire life in or near Ottumwa. He was employed at Morrell’s for 50 years before retiring seven years ago. He was a member of the Brethren church and of the Brotherhood of Stationary Engineers. Survivors include his wife Zoe; six sons, George H. Moyer, Frank B. Moyer and Harry E. Moyer, all of Ottumwa; Fred L. Moyer, Elgin, Illinois, Ralph Moyer, Agency and Henry C. Moyer with the fighting forces in Italy, a daughter, Mrs. Myra Bennett, Ottumwa; a sister, Mrs. Myra Adams, Clark, Missouri and 22 grandchildren, six of the in the service, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Johnson funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Charles A. Albin of the Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery.
