Lewis D. Richards, 64, died suddenly at his home on Agency route 1 at 1:30 p.m. Friday. A resident of the Agency community for the past 14 years, he was prior to moving to the farm, an employee of the Burlington railroad as a car repairer and hostler for 30 years, 15 of them working for the road in Ottumwa. He was the son of Samuel and Amanda Richards and was born at Corning, October 30, 1879. Surviving are two brothers, William Richards of Ottumwa and Albert Richards of Agency route 1, and three sisters, Mrs. Clay Staples of Corning, Mrs. Cale H. Burton and Mrs. Blaine Brewer, both of Ottumwa. A brother, Robert and a sister, Frances preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
