Hugh H. Johnston, 62, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at his home 609 North Hancock street. The son of Hugh and Jennie Johnston, he was born February 19, 1882, at Eddyville. He was a member of Local No. 981 U.M.W.A. Survivors include his wife, Minnie; two sons, Everett H. Johnston, Ottumwa and Roy H. Johnston of the Army, six daughters Mrs. Alice Kridelbaugh, Mrs. Violet Williams, Mrs. Jennie Provenzano, and Eva Johnston all of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Leta Beaver of Harvey and Mrs. Betty Six of Treece, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Godfrey, Miss Jennie Johnston and Miss Grace Johnston, all of Knoxville, and four brothers, Kelly and Eugene Johnston, both of Knoxville, Everette Johnston, Melcher, and Bernard Johnston, Des Moines.
Funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson funeral chapel conducted the Rev. A.D. McClure. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
