Mrs. Mary Shuckrow Dies At Age Of 73
Mrs. Mary Ryan Shuckrow, 73, wife of Patrick J. Shuckrow, died at 2:45 a.m. today at her home 1007 West Main street. Born at Lakon, Illinois, September 19, 1871 she came to Ottumwa when 15 years old and had been a resident of this city ever since. She was married to Patrick J. Shuckrow in 1885. He preceded her in death in 1922. Mrs. Shuckrow was an honorary member of the auxiliary of the Rainbow Division of Veteran and a member of the Gold Star Mothers and American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clara Shuckrow Brier, and a son, D.F Shuckrow, both at home. One brother, D.J. Ryan of Melrose; a half-brother, James Ryan of Ottumwa and two sisters, Mrs. Frances Harper of Portland, Oregon, and
Sister Mary Veronica, R.S.M. of Des Moines, also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 at the Vaughan funeral home and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic church where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery. Members of the Altar and Rosary society will meet Sunday evening at 8 o’clock at the Vaughan funeral home to recite the Rosary.
