Robert Cooper Alverson, 60, died suddenly at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday while at work at John Morrell & Co. His home was at 610 West Second avenue. He was born July 6, 1883, at Paris, Missouri, the son of James and Mary Jeanette Alverson. Survivors are his wife, Angeline; daughters, Mrs. S.H. Palmer and Mrs. Wesley McVey, both of Chicago, a son, Lyndel Alverson, Madison, Wisconsin, two granddaughters, a sister Mrs. Lola Whitecotton, Paris, Missouri, three brothers, Rochelle and Mark Alverson, both of Paris and George of Texarkana, Texas, two stepsons, Malvin and George Spinks both of Ottumwa. Mr. Alverson had lived in Ottumwa 25 years and had been with Morrell’s practically all of that time. He was secretary of local 236, Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home. Funeral services for Robert C. Alverson 619 West Second street, who died Tuesday will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Lester Jay funeral home. The Rev. Edward D. Byrd of the East End Presbyterian church will be in charge and burial will be in Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Hoover, Herman Miller, Thomas Wells, Joe Short, Wilbur Miller and Ben Caster.
