Mrs. Sarah C. Matthews, 74, of 262 South Ward street, died at Ottumwa hospital at 4 p.m. Sunday. She is survived by a son, Ed Trowell of Long Beach, California and by a brother, Frank Brown at Fresno, California. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah C. Matthews, 262 South Ward street, who died Sunday at Ottumwa hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Johnson’s chapel. The Rev. Thurman Bowen of the Finley Avenue Baptist church will be in charge, and burial will be in Shaul cemetery. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Finley Avenue church. She is survived by a son Ed Trowell, Long Beach, California, two grandsons, Joe Edward Trowell, Long Beach, and Corporal James William Trowell, in Italy: and a granddaughter Mrs. Dorthula Viola Custer of Chicago.
