Mrs. Viva A. LaPoint, 59, died at her home. 230 Clayton avenue, at 11 p.m. Sunday. She was the daughter of John and Charlotte Ruthroff and was born May 17, 1885 at Smithland, Iowa. She had been a resident of Ottumwa for nearly 20 years. Surviving are her husband, Otta E. LaPoint, two sons, Paul LaPoint, Ottumwa and Phillip LaPoint, Sioux City: and two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Conner, Ottumwa, and Bette Jo LaPoint of Washington D.C. Six grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters also survive, Mrs. Cora Bowers, Holstein, Iowa; Mrs. Jesse Bryston, Minneapolis; Mrs. Florence Barkley, Richmond, California; Mrs. Pearl Adams, Onawa, Iowa; Mrs. Fay Mayhew, Sioux City; Mrs. Ardilly Barkley, Charles Ruthroff, Los Angeles, California; Floyd A. Ruthroff, Los Angeles, California and Leslie Ruthroff, Sioux city. The body is at the Johnson funeral chapel awaiting funeral arrangements. Funeral services for Mrs. Viva A. LaPoint, wife of Otto E. LaPoint who died Sunday night at her home, 230 Clayton avenue, will be held in Johnson’s chapel at 3 p.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. E.C. Shull of the Assembly of God church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
